2017 Cabernet Sauvignon Release

Posted by

Now that I have retired form Cobalt Boats I have enjoyed working with Steve and Matt at the Sherwin Family Vineyards and continuing to learn about the wine making process. One of the aspects I enjoy most is the excitement around the introduction of each new vintage. Every growing season is so different and even with a fairly consistent blending process the flavors and the taste change from year to year. I am excited to introduce our 2017 Cobalt Wine.

Tasting Notes for Cobalt Cabernet Sauvignon 2017 from our wine maker:

The 2017 Cobalt Cabernet Sauvignon exhibits dark, rich Spring Mountain fruit balanced by subtle tannins and well integrated oak. Notes of blackberry, blueberry, and mocha greet the palate, followed by lingering notes of dark chocolate and nuances of baking spices. The complex flavor and structure of this wine is rounded and refined by 24 months of barrel aging in 75 percent new and 25 percent one- time used French oak. It is drinking beautifully now but will continue to age gracefully 10-15 years. This blend exemplifies the balanced and terroir-driven wines that we strive to produce vintage after vintage for our friends atSt Clair Cellars. –– Steve and Matt Sherwin
