I appreciate the concern so many of you had regarding the 6.0 earthquake that hit Napa Valley on the early morning of August 24, 2014. Fortunately, there was no damage at the Sherwin Family Winery and even our warehouse and shipping company in the town of Napa received only very minor damage. All is well at Sherwin and we are excited to announce the release of our 2011 Vintage.
Steve Sherwin, our winemaker says 2011 was a challenging year for every vintner in Napa Valley, but the mountain fruit fared well, and this Cabernet Sauvignon exhibits bold and vibrant flavors of dark cherry, framed by hints of vanilla and baking spices. This fruit-forward mountain Cabernet was crafted to drink well now, but, with it well-integrated tannic structure and balance and plenty of aging potential.
I think you will be very pleased with this vintage that was picked back in 2011, spent 2 years aging in new French oak barrels and, one year resting in the bottle. I spent time with our wine maker and Steve Sherwin in June tasting this new vintage and I think we all agreed, this will be another memorable vintage!
In closing, I would like to extend an invitation to each of you to visit the beautiful Spring Mountain winery. Steve Sherwin and his team are always happy to see visitors to taste the wine and tour the winery. If you will call Mary Ann at 918-782-2752 she will be happy to assist you in setting up a tour of the winery.
Thank you for your loyal support of our Cobalt Wine. I hope you enjoy our new 2011 vintage.
